Reminder: What is a sub-domain?
A subdomain is an extension of your main domain name. It is determined by a DNS entry and usually an associated service or accommodation.
For example:
portal.lrob.fris a subdomain oflrob.frportal.lrob.fr/is also a sub-domain, even though it is often configured by default
Subdomains are unlimited on the Web Hosting LRob as well as on offers Web Agency.
Create a subdomain via Plesk
This mini-guide explains how to create a sub-domain containing a website via your Plesk panel, when your domain is fully managed by LRob (including DNS), and you have a Let's Encrypt Wildcard SSL certificate already active in this field.
If you only need to create a DNS entry for an external service or site, then go to the DNS zones page.
Step 1: Access domain management
- Connect to your control panel Plesk.
- In the main menu, click on «Websites & domains».
Step 2: Add a subdomain
- At the top of the page, click on «Add a subdomain».
- In the Subdomain name, enter the desired name (e.g. :
blog, api, dev, store, etc.). - Leave the document root unless you have a specific need.
- Click on «OK» to confirm sub-domain creation.

Step 3: Apply the Wildcard SSL certificate
Once the subdomain has been created, it is important to secure connections with HTTPS :
- In the list of domains, locate the section corresponding to the subdomain you've just created.
- Click on «Hosting and DNS», then on «Accommodation».
- Scroll to the «Certificate».
- From the drop-down list, select the Wildcard certificate corresponding to your domain. It will appear as :
yourdomain.com (subdomain.yourdomain.com) - Click on «Click on »Save".».

Your subdomain is now active and secure, so all you have to do is enjoy it.
Using the subdomain
You can use your subdomain immediately, for example for :
- Installing a site WordPress
- Hosting an application
- Create a test or development area
