This number is insufficient for the whole world.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>IPv6<\/strong> was introduced in response to this shortage: with <strong>2\u00b9\u00b2\u2078 possible addresses<\/strong>this represents approximately :<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>340,282 366,920 938,463 463,374 607,431 768,211 456 addresses<\/strong><br>(yes, that's 340 undecillions \ud83d\ude05)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to IPv6, every connected device can have a unique address, with no NAT and no growth limits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is rDNS (reverse DNS)?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Visit <strong>reverse DNS<\/strong>or <strong>rDNS<\/strong>is the reverse of conventional DNS resolution.<br>While DNS (Domain Name System) allows you to <strong>translate a domain name<\/strong> (e.g. <code>www.lrob.fr<\/code>) into an IP address, rDNS allows you to <strong>find the domain name associated with an IP address<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, the IP <code>192.0.2.123<\/code> could have an rDNS like <code>client-192-0-2-123.dsl.provider.net<\/code>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>rDNS is often used for :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Identify a remote server or client<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Checking an IP's legitimacy<\/strong> in e-mail exchanges (anti-spam)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Facilitate security logs and audits<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note: not all IPs have rDNS configured.
