Here's the story of a 2-week journey that, for once, ended in success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Article from this post LinkedIn<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Technically \u25b6\ufe0f OVH blocked DNS server changes unless all NS present in the destination DNS zone were defined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In practice \u25b6\ufe0f This prevented flexible and efficient management for hosts like me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Vulgarization \u25b6\ufe0f OVH thought it was god. \ud83d\ude05\ud83d\ude05<\/p>\n\n\n\n The impact was dramatic for French internet freedom... \ud83e\udd50<\/p>\n\n\n\n I started by opening a ticket at OVH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Those familiar with OVH won't be surprised to learn that this was a waste of time: after an off-the-cuff response, then a call and a few exchanges, the final answer was that there was no way to override this limitation. \ud83d\ude30\ud83d\ude30<\/p>\n\n\n\n OVH even silently closed my ticket after I told them that they were the support that least bothered to solve the real problems I was experiencing. It wasn't a very nice remark, but it was true and was intended to make people react in the direction of solving the problem and not closing the ticket. \ud83d\ude05<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u25b6\ufe0f First, I transferred my .fr domains to HaiSoft, a trusted registrar with excellent support and Afnic accreditation. Because transferring a domain is very simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u25b6\ufe0f Then, as a \"little guy\", getting a behemoth like OVH to move is no easy task... So I used my brain! \ud83e\udd2f So I contacted Afnic. I was lucky enough to be taken care of by David Chansard, whose commitment is no longer in question. \ud83d\udcaa \ud83d\udd52\ud83d\udd5d\ud83d\udd5c\ud83d\udd50 \ud83d\udc49 In the end, OVH announced it was correcting the problem last Friday (a strange day for a production launch).<\/p>\n\n\n\n And on Monday, July 1, I was able to confirm this thanks to a test by one of my valued customers Mathieu Cellucci (Labographic<\/a>) whom I thank, that it was indeed well resolved! \ud83c\udf7e\ud83e\udd42<\/p>\n\n\n\n Conclusion \u25b6\ufe0f When you're small, you can make things happen if you're smart and you meet the right people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Never give up, you can make things better! \ud83d\udcaa<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thanks again to Afnic, David Chansard and Mathieu Cellucci, without whom this would not have been possible.
