Datacenter location
Our servers are located exclusively in datacenters in Europe:
- Germany (Hetzner)
- France (Pulseheberg)
Software
We use as much free and open-source software as possible. Our web servers are based on Debian and LAMP servers, possibly with nginx on the front end. We do, however, use Plesk, necessary to offer the best web hosting experience.
Physical servers
Our infrastructure has been optimized for maximum performance and minimum power consumption. For the web hosting servers, we have chosen high-performance dedicated servers. LRob will use them for 2 to 5 years, after which they will be reused at lower cost by other Hetzner customers to extend their lifespan and reduce electronic waste. For less demanding applications in terms of performance, we use VPSs, and in particular ARM64 VPSs, which further reduce power consumption.
Web hosting servers
Our customer hosting servers are all dedicated servers with powerful CPUs chosen for their excellent balance between single and multi-threaded performance. They are shared between hosted customers, the principle of mutualization. This makes it possible to provide very powerful hosting at a very affordable cost. As these servers are the most energy-hungry, we chose the most efficient datacenter we could find.

LRob infrastructure
LRob websites and domains
The LRob web server for internal use is the only web server on a VPS. It is, however, a Performance VPS from Pulseheberg, powered by a Ryzen 9000 series with performance never before seen on a VPS. Using a VPS offers greater energy and cost savings, for a server that needs to be separate but doesn't require as much power as LRob shared servers. In particular, it contains the authoritative DNS zone lrob.net, which hosts all other LRob websites and infrastructure domains.

Slave DNS servers
The DNS slaves are distributed across 3 VPSs in different locations for increased redundancy. The performance of one VPS is more than sufficient for this light use, and saves both cost and energy.

- ns2.lrob.net (Intel Xeon, Pulseheberg, Nice, France)

Application servers
- bot.lrob.net (ARM64, Hetzner, Nuremberg, Germany)
- collabora01.lrob.net (AMD Epyc, Hetzner, Falkenstein, Germany)
- meet.lrob.net (Intel Xeon, Hetzner, Nuremberg, Germany)

- uptime.lrob.net (ARM64, Hetzner, Nuremberg, Germany)
Backup server
What better way to preserve the sovereignty of your data than to have a copy at home?
LRob backups are made directly in the LRob Homelab. This allows the NAS to be used twice, again saving energy and benefiting from tens of TeraBytes of storage at a more affordable cost.
